Is Your Boat Up to Date with Its Annual Service?

Giving your boat’s engine its routine maintenance (Annual Service) is one of the most important aspects of owning a boat—and sometimes one of the most overlooked.

For starters, you can check your boat’s owner’s manual for its recommended service schedule. A general rule of thumb, after the initial ‘break-in’ period (usually the first 20 hours) for a new boat, is to service your boat every 100 hours of use or annually, whichever comes first. Just as important as the annual service on your boat’s engine is ensuring your boat is properly winterized when those freezing temperatures hit Texas.

Three Services Rinkers Boat World Recommends

• Initial 20-Hour Service: All new boats need this service to stay compliant with engine warranties. It also ensures everything is running smoothly after the ‘break-in’ period.
• Annual Service: Required to maintain compliance with engine warranties. (Or every 100 hours if you use the boat frequently in a season/year.)
• Winterization: Be sure to winterize your boat by the end of October to prepare for freezing winter temperatures. Winterized boats keep you and your family safe out on the water and save you money in the long run by preventing costly repairs.
