Acrylic Windshield Care & Maintenance for Boat Owners

Acrylic windshields and clear panels are common on many center-console and family boats. They look great when cared for properly, but they can haze, scratch, or crack if they are cleaned like ordinary glass.

Start with a gentle rinse

Before wiping, rinse away salt, dust, pollen, and grit with clean water. Dry wiping is one of the easiest ways to drag abrasive material across the surface and create swirl marks.

Use acrylic-safe products

Use a cleaner made for acrylic or clear marine plastics. Avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, harsh solvents, paper towels, and abrasive pads. A clean microfiber towel is the safer choice.

Protect the surface

After cleaning, an acrylic-safe polish or protectant can help reduce static, improve clarity, and make future cleaning easier. Always test a small area first and follow the product instructions.
